“STORMY” – AN ARTISTIC EXPRESSION THROUGH EXPERIMENT

According to great Rabindranath Tagore “Those who imitate the original, Steal from the nature. And those who give accolades to this kind of patience and dexterity do not know the value of human art”

Most of the art lovers have admitted that “Unrealistic form of art” provides more enjoyment or satisfaction than any “hard realistic image” can ever do. The essence of this kind of art is, “Establish truth through unreality”.

Those photo artists who were conscious of this aspect of art were not content merely with whatever they saw or whatever was visible in the photography. They have an earnest effort to present the hard reality in a rather distorted way with the help of different techniques. They wanted to present their photograph in a complete artistic way.

One day in a playful mood, I got attracted to the waste exposed black and white photo paper. I brought them to my home. Actually, I wanted to use them as border at the time of printing. My mind kept on thinking as to how such papers could be used in various ways.

I made images some times by cutting papers, some times by fixing threads on such papers. At times, I also made images by applying gum on the paper. In all these cases, I developed those images by spraying with the tooth brush. Later, the fixing was done, while I was developing I made some changes in various ways. I did the fixing by rubbing with hands. In a few cases, I developed slightly and left it in the intense light. Some times, I left it in the day light for couple of hours. Many times after fixing slightly it was left in the light. Some times I just forgot and thought that I had done the fixing and let it remain so for two days. Later, I had to do the fixing when I realized that actually I had not done so in reality. Truly speaking, infact I was engrossed in this kind of experiment. And may be, due to this I got to see such diamond like effects as ‘Solarisation’ ‘Brick – Solarisation’ ‘Line effect’ ‘Tone – line etc.

When my photography was in the stage of infancy, I happened to see some pictures based on photogram process. My experiment was solely based on pre exposed black and white photo papers procured from here & there. They were of different sizes, grades and oldness. The creations were not made in a day but since 14 years. For required size and original Tone variation I am compelled to take printout my work digitally.

I really have the conviction that my work would undoubtedly be accepted in the true world of photographic art and creativity.
